Walter Hiltebrand
Marine Services Ltd.

Walter Hiltebrand started his career with Sulzer Switzerland in 1964. He followed in his father’s footsteps and worked for Sulzer in Switzerland. In 1967 Walter moved to Canada and was promoted to service engineer followed by Superintendent of Marine Service. He was technical adviser and gained the respect of the marine diesel community in Canada and abroad. He was given the responsibility of commissioning ships both in Canada and internationally. In 1989 Walter started Walter Hiltebrand Marine Services Ltd. with his vast knowledge and work ethics he has grown the business into a multi-national supplier.

Oliver Hiltebrand joined Walter Hiltebrand Marine Services Ltd. in 1996 after graduating from Mechanical Engineering Technology at Niagara College in Welland Ontario. He completed multiple work terms at New Sulzer Diesel in Winterthur, Switzerland. Oliver is a third generation “Sulzer Man” and very proud to continue the Hiltebrand tradition. Walter Hiltebrand Marine Services Ltd. is providing a complete service of spare parts, technical support, troubleshooting and component overhauls for clients in Canada and worldwide.

The Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway System has remained a vital deep draft waterborne transportation link for
moving goods between North America’s heartland and international markets since it opened in 1959. The Seaway
System encompasses the St. Lawrence River and the five Great Lakes, extending from the Gulf of St. Lawrence at the
Atlantic Ocean to the western end of Lake Superior at the twin ports of Duluth, Minnesota, and Superior, Wisconsin.
